The one that got away …

Over 11 years in the classroom, I’ve been lucky enough to have many Year 11 students stay with me through A-Level. Several have taken English Literature through to university. Others just stay in touch now and again to tell me what they’re reading, recommend books they’ve loved, or ask for suggestions.

And then there are the ones that get away.

It’s almost universally accepted that reading is a Good Thing™. This student might not be taking her English studies any further, but I know that our discussions, the skills she’s refined, and – most importantly – her relationship with reading will be an asset in whatever she does next.

Sometimes the best result is helping a student see the subject completely differently.

If you’d like to talk about how I might help your child do the same, get in touch.
